Health Science Careers II (14002)
This class will give students the opportunity to explore Health Careers. They will discover and develop foundation skills that are essential to all health care workers. Practice infection control procedures and understand the existing and potential hazards to clients, coworkers and self. Practice appropriate cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization processes. Perform First Aid standards according to AHA. Recognize injury or illness and determine what actions to take. Differentiate between an emergency and a non-emergency. Students will apply skills for jobs in the nurse assistance career such as, preventing falls, assisting with comfort, assisting with grooming, assisting with oxygen needs and accurately measure vital signs, analyze normal and abnormal.
Medical Terminology (14154)
Medical Terminology is designed to empower high school students to use phonetic pronunciation and word building to learn the language of medicine. They will learn to understand and communicate using the medical words and abbreviations needed in health careers.
Students will apply the use of medical terminology to describe human structure and function.
